Last week really sucked for me due to the extremely cold temps I had a water pipe split and total soak the subflooring in my Manufactured home :( I thought I was having water heater problems because of fluctuating water temps and also the water line was temperarily frozen for a short period time.

Well I had a service guy(He was very busy so it was a short visit) come over Saturday just after the pipes became unfroze and he determined that water heater was the culprit.

Well he came over today to change the water heater and then he called me on my cell phone with the lovely news of I got about 500 bucks in pipe damage and another 3500 in subflooring.

I called up my insurance lady and told her the scoop. I loved her questioning....Why didn't you turn off the water? Ummm because I didn't know it was fVcking spraying all over hell down there!!

She turned in the claim to the adjuster and I am waiting to be grilled again :(

With this background, My main question is:

How long will it take me to get my claim? Will they shaft me by jacking up my Insrance ?(1st claim ever) I have State Farm for Insurance

TIA

Get a couple of bids. Ask your rep who sold you your policy about the rate increase issue.Remind him that "TRUST" is the cornerstone of a healthy Insurance Company. A company that loses it's customers trust by failing to take care of them in their hour of need, fails in it's primary goal.
Expect a grilling on "no proper insulation on the pipes". There may be a claim with your manufacturer as well.
I see by your profile that you're in Wisconsin. I'm sure you guys have far more pipe issues than we do here in the SF Bay Area.
Sux anyway you look at it though.
