Homeowners Association sent us a noise complaint letter...

Last weekend my roomates and I had gone out, my brother came to town and had some people over at my place. I guess things got a little loud inside the place and I guess there was a few people hanging out outside as well. So today I got a letter from teh Homeowners Association stating a noise violation. They said I have "If we do not hear from you within 15 days and you fail to comply with the rules and regulations covering the issues at hand, you will be fined." What the hell do they want me to do? Are they fining me or not, it says I may meet with them or send a written response. What would I respond? A sorry letter? What the hell will keep me from getting fined?

Agreed. Homeowners Associations are the scum of the earth. They're for old people and women with entirely too much free time to shove their noses up other people's asses.

That's why you don't live in a neighborhood with a HOA. They're invariably made up of the worst sort of prudes, snitches, and Nazis, and they espouse all the most hateful qualities of the human race.

That said, explain yourself, say it'll never happen again, and hope they don't fine you.

Oddly enough it looks like the neighbors right across from us got a noise violation that night too 🙂 I could blame it on them .... muhahah. Well either way I owe my brother $130 for alcohol that night - he can pay the noise complaint if it comes down to it lol

So, anyone know where i can find a response letter generator or template?

Make some crap up that may make them feel guilty like it was a celebration for a friend who just finished law school, or a party for a friend in the army who getting shipped away or just got back home.

Tell me, how does your brother come to YOUR place, have friends over, get a noise complaint, and YOU owe HIM for alcohol?

Wrong. Homeowner's associations are for people who care how their neighborhood looks and would like to create an environment that fosters increases in the values of the homes. If you don't care about that stuff then move to a different neighborhood.

I got tired of my neighbors who let their yards waste away and never cut the grass.

I'm glad we don't have a homeowners assoc. in my sub, but I'm also glad I have neighbors who value the looks of their lawns, though mine looks better 😀. I'll never move to a place with a HOA. If I want to work on my vehicles in the driveway, it's my right. If I want to park my vehicle on my lawn, It's my right. If I want a different color of shingles on my roof, thats my right.

EDIT: I guess the noise thing would matter to me if I lived in either a condo or a subdivision that spaced the houses out at the minimum distance set by the city or county.

True it is your RIGHT, IF you don't live in a place with an HOA, then it is no longer your RIGHT. So if you want to live like that, then do so elsewhere. Personally I like my HOA, because it prevents crap like junk being left all over the place by people who couldn't find their ass with both hands.

Dear Scum of the Earth,

It wasn't me.

Signed,

Simple and to the point. 🙂 I will never live in an area with an HOA. I don't care if they are giving the house away for free.

This is why I can't stand it when people bitch and moan about HOAs. You AGREED to live there and by doing so, AGREED to follow the simple freaking rule of not being a tard!!
