Alright. I was working on my parents computer because it has had some problems with memory. (underclocked ram to fix it) So to make sure that I did a good job I ran memtest86 for a while and that seemed ok. Then I wanted to test using Doom3.
But demos are boring.
So this is what I did:
1. unlock the console (if you haven't already)
hit: ctrl alt ~
that will open up the console
Type:
set com_allowconsole 1
2. open up test map and get cheats going, now in the console type:
map testmaps/test_lotsaimps.map; god mode; give all
Then when you want to reset you just hit ~ and then press up to recall old commands.
3. kill all of the monsters.
Some rockets or a couple of stratigicly placed BFG blasts will take care of those guys.
4. Now bind a monster generator key and go noclip.
You can spawn a monster by typing:
spawn monster_monstername
You can cycle thru the different monsters by going:
spawn monster_<tab><tab><tab>
were <tab> is your tab button.
Once you find the monster you want (I choose regular old imp) you can go:
bind e spawn monster_demon_imp
then go noclip:
noclip
Now just fly around generating hundreds of monsters. just hit e e e e e e e e e e e e e.
You can stack them like bricks or force them to spawn into one another. Whatever you want.
Then type noclip in the console again to exit out of flyby mode and they'll notice you and start running around throwing stuff at you. Go back into noclip mode and fly to the top of the room and blast them all at once with a bfg.
I was getting about 2 seconds for every frame of animation. If that's not a good stress test then I don't know what is.
