I know its not homemade but how about a powerbar.

i've tried a bunch of different kinds of bars. nothing wrong with them, but i just thought it'd be cool to make some since i enjoy cooking and such.

Interesting concept....

I wonder how some Irish oatmeal, whole grain cheerios, some dehydrated fruit (apples, bananas, cranberries, ect) mixed up with a little honey and water and then made into a "bar" and baked for a few minutes would turn out.

I just like it because it's not bleached out like your typical Quaker Oats oatmeal, but then it's not as hard to chew as the thicker cut ones you can buy. It's a good compromise especially if you are going to be eating it largely uncooked.

Doesn't Fausto have an energy bar recipe he likes? Someone has definatly posted one here in the past.

Alton Brown did a show on oats with a granola recipe - I've been meaning to try it out some time.

Here are a couple bars that I make - *Credit goes here*

Combine in large mixing bowl:

3 Cups Oatmeal
1/2 Cup Natural Peanut butter
1 cup Skim Milk
4 Scoops Protein Powder
dash of cinnamon

Mix until a sticky batter is formed (may take a few minutes)

use a large spoon to spread out the mix into the bottom of a Pam-sprayed glass or metal cooking tray (spread until even)

top with 4-8 packets splenda

put in the fridge overnight and cut into 8 equal bars that yield:

11g fat (good monounsaturated fats)
26g carbs
21g protein

285 calories

and

Combine in Large Mixing Bowl

8 Scoops Whey (Vanilla is very good)
3 Cups Oats
1 Package Sugar Free Fat Free Pudding (Any flavor is good)
2 Cups Skim Milk

Mix until a sticky batter is formed (may take a few minutes)

use a large spoon to spread out the mix into the bottom of a Pam-sprayed glass or metal cooking tray (spread until even)
