i'm looking to somehow build a breakout box, similar to the sb live! drives,
but it needs to be external (i have an antec 1030b case, and i don't like the
idea of having the door open to use the headphone jack).

really, all i would like is a little switch that i could use to choose between
headphones and speakers (i have the cambridge soundworks 4.1 setup..
no headphone jack on the speakers... must rely on my sb live 5.1 for headphone
jack).

does anybody sell one of these contraptions?
if not, what parts would i need and where could i get them?

thanks!

i've built a couple of them

here's what you need from radio shack

project box
DPDT switch
3 female 1/8 inch stereo jacks
thin wires, solder

total cost around 15 bucks or so

i can make you some rudimentary wiring diagram if you want. if so, just PM me

works great, and it's a cheap way to switch between headphones and speakers (though you have to do some soldering)
