Homeless man found my daughter's phone and called me.

So at about 2:30 a.m. my phone rang the caller said he is a homeless person and found a cell phone with my number on it, after he described it I realized its my daughter's phone. She is a U of T student and live on campus close by. He said he is at an all night McDonalds at Queen/Spadina. So I went to picked it up at once, there I saw a group of about twenty young people at 3:00 a.m. outside the McDonalds.

I was looking for a homeless man thinking someone about 50 wearing a trench coat, then a young man of about 20 ask me if I came for the phone, said he was homeless but honest so I took the phone and gave him $30. Its really disturbing to see so many young people living on the streets.

it's amazing where you will find honest people. not many of them left.

There are good people left, they just don't stand out as much as the bad ;|

I think he had a good idea you would give him some type of reward for finding and returning the phone. Especially if he was homeless.

There is a lady that stands by own local Wal-Mart supercenter here and holds a sign saying she is homeless and starving and her kids are too. She needs money. She is also a con artist and makes more money a day than most of the people I know. She also drives a very nice car, when people aren't looking.

Did you stalk her?

...anyone simply standing and holding a sign with the other hand outstretched like that is not working hard enough for my change for me to want to give them jacksh!t. I'm not expecting a song-and-dance routine, just the understanding that it is not my intrinsic social responsibility to give them change. Some of them actually get a serious hair across their ass when you walk by them without acknowledgement.

No, my bf's brother is a cop, and they have picked her up several times. She drives a newer car, like a 2000 model something. I can't remember what make. I don't think she has any kids either. She is a just a con artist who poses as a homeless lady with children who needs money. She is really skinny, which makes her look malnourished. But she is also a drug addict.
She just stands there all day long and people will walk out to her and give her $20 at a time.

I have seen people give her money. She doesn't thank them, nor does she make eye contact. She is really smug about it. Her nose is always turned up in the air.

She just stands there all day long and gullible jackasses will walk out to her and give her $20 at a time.

Fixed.

sometimes i'll ask. Depends on my level of drunkeness

My favorite bums are the bucket drummers. You can catch a good example outside the FleetCenter in Boston after an event let-out.

Another entertaing subgroup is the entrepreneurial crackhead. You know, the kind that tries for weeks to keep selling you the same broken Walkman from 1991 for $20 (ask how I know...lol).

Did you sanitize/sterilize the phone? I would have.

It really bothers me when I see homeless people with a puppy, that's no life for the dog 🙁

Is that they one from Toronto or thereabouts they featured a couple weeks ago??? Crazy what people will do to not pay taxes... 😀

I use to work at a bank and every so often this old, dirty, smelly lady would come in and take money out of her stinky sock and deposit it into her account. Guess what!?! She had over 60K in the savings account. Then one day, as I was passing by my local VONS supermarket, I saw her standing outside asking people for money.

gotta say NEVER give bums money. they'll just buy drugs or booze. give 'em food.

I usually give them a NutriGrain bar or something that is sealed. Never any money.
