Well... they are Polish and one was Turkish, and they were taking pictures at the bank of a chipmunk while one guy was opening account. Next day a Federal Agent calls while I'm sitting there and wants to speak to someone in HR to verify their employment status. Within in a few hours they arrive at work and start doing interviews and questioning. I forgot all about this until I saw the other thread about the FBI. It is seriously not a joke right now if you mess around any type of financial institution.

Why would taking pictures at a bank be harmful or dangerous to anyone?
The reaction of the FBI doesn't make sense to me.

Anytime you take pictures of something, they think you are studying it so you can blow it up.

I mean hey, this is Alabama and all. Couple of people who don't speak English(including a dark skinned Turkish guy) taking pictures will make people freak out. Rather unecessary IMO.

Because it is a tactic used by terrorist in preperation for an attack. Also the best place to do it (although probably not this particular bank) is outside the perceived safety zone. If you were to attack Birmingham (or a coordinated attack on several smaller cities) people in general would feel much less safe.

Well see I have a different opinion here. Due to the lack of foreigners here I'd imagine anyone who isn't white would attract heavy attention. Now in Huntsville with all of its tech jobs it might be different, and in Downtown(with more Foreign Doctors, etc) it might be different as well. This is Bessmer Alabama, so there probably there isn't really anyone here who isn't white or black.

I understand that. I was just saying if they could pull it off it would cause more "terror" than blowing up a bank in NY. The other side of this is they got a report. Given the current view of the FBI do you think it would be smart of them to ignore it?

I love how all these redneck cops think that terrorists are gonna waste their time blowing up their bank. I am sure they are just dying to go to Alabama to become a martyr. The A-Rabs are coming to get you. ;)

I wonder if anyone called the FBI on McVeigh and Nicols. Oh wait, we know the answer to that one. Be careful of your prejudices.

Actually I would attack Orlando, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Charlotte in my next attack if I were a terrorist. Then I would move to the midwest,

7 million muslims in the U.S .. I am sure they all take pictures at least once a year. So many complaints this FBI must follow up on.

So what your saying is the issue is pretty much just black and white, no brown areas eh?

This sucks too... I'm an amateur photographer and wanted to take some pics of a car with our friendly neighborhood San Onofre nuclear plant in the background. But I'm genuinely afraid of being harassed by police and/or FBI and decided to use a pier instead.

I could only imagine:
"Whaddya in fer?"
"Taking pictures of big bewbies."

In case you don't know what I mean...

Not to justify what the FBI is doing. But to look at it from their perspective.

Before 9/11 they didn't check into everything. After 9/11 they were criticized heavily for doing this.
Everyone and their brother who reported anything about the 9/11 terrorist came out and said
that they mentioned something to either the FBI or local authorities on them and obviously
nothing was done.

Now the FBI checks up on every little thing. Basically the cover their ass if another
terrorist attack happens. So that people cannot after such an attack, hey we reported this
guy taking a picture at a bank and he ended up being a terrorist.

Is it right what the FBI is doing? Probably not. But its a no win situation for them either way.
This way it looks like their trying to prevent terrorism.
