So I've been looking around recently for up and coming games that are speculated to be some of the greatest games ever made and I've found that many, many people have put their faith in the game known as "Homefront". So my interest is spiked, what do you think of this game? What's the big deal about this one game? Tell me what you think, because I'm borderline on the subject.

Military shooter with dedicated servers on every platform, what's not to like? I don't know much about it but so far it sounds like it might be really good or really average. I really want to try it out, but Killzone 3 will probably have me occupied.

I'll agree with you on that one. I'll check it out when its time comes but Killzone 3 should leave me with permanently bloodshot eyes. I'm looking forward to killzone as well as this game by Bethesda Softworks called "Brisk",it definitely looks interesting.

The lack of co-op is a bummer, this seems like the perfect type of game for co-op. I'll be waiting for the reviews, and then the sales.

This is from the same devs that made Frontlines: Fuel of War. That game featured dedicated servers and up to 50 players online. I played it during the beta and thought it was alright but it was released at a bad time and was most unplayed.

They downscaled Homefront to 32 man online play and have a more 'gripping' subject matter but I get the feeling that it will suffer the same fate as Frontline. There's just so many games coming out over the next few months that there are going to be titles that get lost in the shuffle. This looks like one of them to me.

The premise is laughable. My faith in the rest of the game is non-existent.

Next up, Homefront 2: Somalian Invasion.

You'd be surprised. There are worse premises out there, but its refreshing to here a largely negative comment about this game.

I was actually kind of looking forward to this.
BC2 is still awesome, but you need that "fresh new" game every once in a while to try out. This was gonna be my spring game.
Hopefully its good!

Homefront is one of my most anticipated games on 2011. The SP looks really freak'n cool and I'm expecting the MP to be rad (it's Kaos Studios after all).

Watch this stage demo from E3. Keep in mind that at this point the game wasn't even in beta yet, so who knows how good it looks now. Pay attention to the details in the environments.

That and the premise is rad:

Thanks for the link warcrow - I had seen some brief footage, but that was cool.

This game does look really cool. I don't think it will be revolutionary or anything, but it is a cool take on the FPS genre. I don't really see myself paying $60 for it though - I'll wait a bit and pick up a cheaper used copy.

And I *really* hope they have co-op. This game is SCREAMING for online co-op. If they do, I'll probably pick up the PS3 version so I can play with a bud. Hopefully they don't nerf the PS3 version like IW likes to do :whiste:

I was extremely critical of this game when it was first announced, and the premise of the SP plot seems a bit silly, but now that I have learned a bit more about the game I am actually looking forward to it. Check out the footage on gametrailers.com. Some of the multiplayer features look really cool. Such as the ability to buy things using "battle points" during a round, such as rocket launchers, and battle drones. I also like the way that players doing the most damage will become a priority target/objective.

Wow, everyone who says the premise is silly doesn't realize it's basically a particular portion from MW2. The US was invaded by Russia in that game, and I didn't see anyone be particularly critical about it there.

Anyways, this game has some potential, but it won't be a must purchase until I see the life of the multiplayer. Can it survive amongst Reach, BO, & BC2? Maybe it'll be good enough to grab the people that still play MW2 ... who knows though, because this portion of the market is spread thin as is. I'll be looking at what happens and hope that a Transformers: War for Cybertron isn't pulled on it. You know, a great game that has fun MP that dies because of the lack of press and coverage.

I don't think that'll happen. I've seen more about this game on various websites than I did about 95% of games. More being trailers, news about gameplay, etc. Many sites seem excited too it seems.
Hopefully it works out!

This is THQs really REAL crack at creating a shooter that competes with the Halos and Modern Warfares on a SP and MP level. They're putting a colossal amount of time and money into it. The game has been pushed back a few times because Danny Bilson (head of the core games at THQ) believes good games take time and he wasn't afraid to take the final risks to do it.

From what I've played, this game is going to surprise a lot of people. The SP game had the HL2 touch to it. :)

In that case, I should probably prepare the wife for another purchase ... but I just got Reach on ebay for $28 though! :\

My Amazon page suggested an upcoming game: "Spec Ops: The Line." The intro description on an IGN article read a helluva like Homeland, even if it's not an "invasion" scenario:

Spec Ops: The Line is treading different ground than most cover based third person shooters. In the past, producer Greg Kasavin has talked about how heavily the story of Spec Ops is influenced by director Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now (and by extension Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness), but during my demo of the game at this year's E3, the developers have also made it clear how much the game will resemble the film and book in its dark and unflinchingly violent tone.

A helicopter brings a building down with rockets, destroying entrenched indigenous resistance fighters. A highway is bombed, leaving torn apart corpses and blood streaked across a sand covered road, while maimed civilians drag themselves along the ground only to finally shudder and die. Blackened and mangled corpses hang from street lights and overpass signs, a message to those who pass. Explosions of white phosphorus burn a gathered crowd alive at temperatures of 5000 degrees Fahrenheit as a team of heavily armored commandos moves into sweep up any remaining resistance. Man's inhumanity to man and the horrors of guerilla war are on display in a way that games have typically glossed over or avoided entirely, and it makes for a very different atmosphere.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1096769p1.html

And Homeland DOES look to have a lot of influence from HL2. This is good to see in a console game, which traditionally lack such polish and focus IMO, but I hope they don't just copy the entire HL2 playbook. That would get old real fast.

Oh goodie, now I get to bash that garbage game MW2!

I wouldn't use the retarded story from a craptacular game like MW2 as some sort of benchmark. I've seen plenty of criticism directed at that games terrible and ridiculous story.

But an insignificant, tiny, primitive, starving country with a tiny economy half the world away invading the U.S. Yeah, they lost me there. Why not China or some new country or something? Is this what Fox news has been doing lately, making people afraid of fat Kim? I suppose that is why I dislike the story the most, now a bunch of idiots are going to be afraid of some North Korean bogyman and the media will have a field day.

The game is flawed from the start, I don't expect much from it. For anyone who wanted criticism for this game, there you go.

Wow, holy shit. You're fucking pathetic if you let a game's story completely ruin it for you. Quit posting in this thread, as you obviously have nothing but negativity to contribute.

I agree with Dougp If your gonna troll the hell out of my thread,on a subject about liking this game, then just put your tail in between your legs and go the way you came. What's the point.

Anyway, back on topic. Homefront is looking more and more impressive to me. Its looking better than most games I've looked into. It looks better than Rage,Killzone 3,DeadSpace2,etc. Although, only time will tell I geuss.

Btw. Does anyone know the release date for Homefront?

Looks like March 8, same time frame as Dragon Age 2. That does not bode well, considering the history of Dragon Age.

Wow, you are gonna blame Fox News for this huh? It's a video game. Other than Medal of Honor, every modern FPS has a fake story that takes a stretch of the imagination to believe, but that's not the point of the story.

LOLZ. I guess you play something realistic and government endorsed, like America's Army? :awe:
