Brewed again today.... thought I would do another double batch but something went wrong and I got horrible efficiency out of 16 #s of pale malt and aborted to a single batch.
Uhho APA
16 # pale malt
4 ounces carapils
6 ounces crystal L60
1 ounce Target hops @ 60 min
1 ounce cascade at 15 minutes
1 ounce cascade at 3 minutes
Will drop hop this one when the time is right.
Pitched ontop of the Wyeast 1056 yeast cake from the last batch (Homebrew Report #260012).
OG 1.060
I've temporarily attributed the bad efficiency on the mash to the older malt i've been using although I did get a stuck sparge so its possible that I just didn't get a good rinse during sparging.
I think I will brew again tomorrow, but go get some fresh pale malt. I think another APA. Then a Kolsh and maybe a hard cider.
