OOCH!
Did a memorial brew over the weekend and it was one of those brewing sessions that didn't go as planned. Let's call it the Mystery beer.
1) I spilled somewhere between 1-2 ounces of hops on the patio, and the neighbors puppy almost ate some (they are lethal to dogs). I splashed 200 F wort all over my legs (I was wearing shorts). My hop bag was too small and swelled up like a bursting appendix (had to cut it open, makes for a lot of trub in the primary which means wasted beer). Overfilled my brew pot (hence boiled over and I made a mess of my brew pot, and propane burner).
10 gallon RECIPE:
11 pounds light DME
1 pound caramunich
1 pound pale
5 oz chocolate malt
bittering
1 oz Fuggles ?
1 oz Perle
1 oz Mt. Hood ?
1 oz K. Goldings?
flavoring
1 oz Cascade 15 minutes
1 oz Columbia 8 minutes
1 oz Liberty 3 minutes
1098 British Ale from Wyeast Labs
