I am wondering if such thing exist...

Homebrew low powered singleboard computer with embedded linux on DOC/CF for NAS purpose ?

NAS - Network Storage Device
DOC - Disk on Chip
CF - Compact Flash

I have research the web & have yet find such thing...

maybe I am asking too much...

gee.. the closet thing I can find is linksys NAS / Quantum SNAP.. freaking expensive...

Have you heard of the miniature ITX formfactor boards with integrated Cyrix (yes, I know, they have a bad reputation, but these things now run so cool that most of them don't need a fan) processor? You could get one of those IDE > CF adapters and a 256MB CF card for your OS (Linux would be cool here). Just be careful not to write to your CF card much, because they only last so long (i.e. keep your system logs somewhere else, and use enough RAM so you don't need a swap file). Add an IDE hard disk or two of appropriate size, and you should be good to go. :)

Edit: you might want to try the notebook and SFF forum, because you'd get better advice there, and this isn't really a HT question.
