Ok, I'm helping out a friend setup his network in his house, here's the deal:
He already has a wireless network setup in his house, which is a simply a wireless router plugged into a cable modem. There are 2 PCs connected to the router (1 wireless, 1 wired).
He's added onto his garage recently and will be working out of there in a home office with 2 more computers there. So, he wants the 2 PCs in the office (garage) to be able to use the internet connection from the router, be able to share files with one another, but not be able to share files with the PCs in the house (he doesn't want the kids messing around with his work documents).
So, exactly how does this setup need to work.
First off, to get both computers in the garage online, I think he needs a wireless bridge plugged into another wireless router in the garage? the bridge would pick up the signal from the router inside, and then plugging that into another router would share that, right? (or am I totally wrong here). Then, having both of them plugged into the 2nd router would allow them to see each other, but would the PCs in the house be able to see them as well? Or would there be a way to disable that via the 2nd router?
Thanks. If I didn't make anything at all clear there, please let me know.
