Nice job on the floor installation. But, I still think you're being paranoid about the temperature swings. It's only 10 degrees either way right now. (What happens to the wood floors of people who are very energy conscientous and turn back the temp to 60 degrees at night? (possibly unfathomable to you South Carolinians who fire up the furnace at that temperature? But, I can assure you, it's quite common, especially in the northern states. Likewise, how about the people who set their air conditioners at 78 or 80 when it's 100 outside? Are these people doomed to flooring failures? Does the flooring box say "keep floor at 71 or 72 degrees, or else?" More important to the problem of expansion and cupping is the relative humidity (as I typed this, according to Weather. com is 49%, well within the range of accepted humidity levels in your home for wood flooring. If you have a really tightly sealed house, I could see moisture build-up as a problem, over the course of months, but certainly not within a week or so. Also, if you have engineered flooring (as opposed to solid wood flooring), it's even less of a problem (but I don't know which product you installed) Anyway, I agree with you about the warranty. Very few "extended warranties" are worth the money, so I agree with your decision not to renew it.
