I have a substantial amount of home video on VHS video and would like to transfer these onto DVD. (I have just bought a DVD burner.) I haven't a clue as to how I start this and wondered if some of you good people can help me out.

I have a SONY SLV-SF90 video recorder.

I have a pretty decent computer system....
AMD-XP 2600 processor.
1 GIG Memory.
Windows XP Pro
2 x 80 gig HD's.
Radeon 9500 Pro video card. (I believe for a start I'll need a video capture card)

So then, give me a clue where to start!!! Thanks.

1st, I would recommend a capture device that converts the analog video/audio into a DV format for capture. Many DV camcorders have this A->D passthough feature. If you are planning on buying a DV camcorder, be sure it has this.

2nd. You need some software. Pinnacle Studio 8 is avery good and very easy to use package.

If you want a package that gives you the DV capture conversion and the Studio 8 SW, you can get the PINNACLE MovieBox DV IEEE 1394 Video Capture Device
