Right now i am using logitech z680 5.1 speaker system on my computer. I like them an all but next year i am moving into a bigger dorm and we will have a living room so i am looking into some nicer speakers for the tv. I heard onyko or something like that was good? Any advice...? No more than 500 dollars i am thinking. thanks

Depending on how many speakers you are looking for, the Creative Gigaworks S750 (7.1) or S700 (5.1) would be a good starting point.

So you would suggest another pair of PC speakers and connecting to them to the reciever or TV or whatnot? I was thinking PC speakers are weaker than a set of same price home theatre speakers

The Gigaworks and Klipsch 5.1 Ultras blow away any HT setup you could get for less than $1000.

Of course, there's the difficulty of connecting your TV and everything to them, but luckily Creative has a deal going for the S700 + the DDTS-100 which has inputs galore. You can hook up your PC, TV, DVD player, Xbox and everything. AND it comes with an easy switch so you can switch over to feed straight from your sound card to speakers for EAX effects!

BTW, I don't really think you need to upgrade just for TV. Those speakers are fine for most people. If you weren't fine with their quality, you would have gotten rid of them as soon as you'd gotten them.

i like your point 🙂 i really like my speakers, i was just curious if i could ger nicer ones for another 200 if i sell these for 200 or so... if i can even get that.

Well, the klipsch and the gigaworks are better, but most people wouldn't find them to be substantially better. I'd say your best investment would be in a DDTS-100, so you can hook everything up to your Z680s. You can get them for right around $100 I think.
