Hi,
I am new to AnandTech Forums.
I have a Sony Bravia ex520 TV and a xbox 360. I would like to add a 5.1 speakers. The purpose is for gaming and for watching movies (mostly blu ray rips inbetween 6GB to 15GB per movie).

Kindly suggest me a good 5.1 speakers with blu ray player or a separate media player which can play most of the movies (High bitrates) from a ext HDD. Budget is 25K. I dont intend to buy blu ray discs. Mostly play from HDD.

Thanks in advance

How big of a room?

My advice is go to avsforum and get some advice from the experts before dropping $25k.

For 25k you can do a hella lot. Probably should post this on avsforums. I would recommend getting a new tv as well since you can get a very good 9.2 for $15k. You could probably imitate (notnyt on avs) http://countercultured.net/pics/ht/ht_000.jpg with your budget and then buy a 5k projector/tv. Room dimensions will tell us what you can handle and what would be overkill.

Guys sorry...I did not know that the default currency in this forum is dollars...I'm from India...I had posted the budget in rupees...I'm really really sorry for the inconvenience caused..
The budget is ONLY $500..

Kind of hard to suggest things when we don't know what you have available locally and their price point.

Yeah my bad...😕
Media player or Blu ray player?? Which is better to play 1080p movies (high bitrate mkv files and blu ray rips)from HDD...I dont need online streaming capabilities.
Kindly educate me on this.

A dedicated media player will play more file types and generally be better at it.

Ok...which media player do u recommend for playing almost all video formats (mostly MKV or any 1080p movies)...??
i came across some. WDTV Live or Boxee or Netgear Neo TV

I've had good luck with my WDTV. The Boxee is a lot more money mainly do to it's streaming abilities that you aren't going to use. If you can find and older WDTV that doesn't do all the online streaming it will serve your needs and should be dirt cheap.
