I'm looking to set up a Home theatre PC with my current comp (getting a beast soon).
I'm going to use this to play .avi's and was wondering the best way to do this.
I currently have 802.11b network, which isnt fast enough to stream high bit rate videos.
Is 802.11g (108Mbps) fast enough?
Gigabit would probably be too much effort (ie laying cables etc).

I was think of getting 3 of these http://www.scorptec.com.au/index.php?prdid=00001442.
Putting one in my PC, one in my brothers, and one in the HTPC. I would put a spare hard drive in it and put all the avi's on it as well as music.
I also therefore need a hot swap manager like this ... http://www.softhelp.cc/vipower/
Is there a free one that anyone knows about?? (cant find one on source forge)

Which option is the best?
While im at it what is the best media centre program out there?

If you REALLY want good video streaming... Go wired! No question about it.
