Home Theatre Cables

I'm having problems with one of my S-video cables. The cable I have has four gold pins and a black rectangular piece in the connector. However, the black rectangular piece is missing on one side. Does this affect whether or not the cable will work?

I was thinking the same thing... but it doesn't appear to be working so maybe it does. I'll keep trying different connections to make sure its not my hardware thats not working.

I just tried it with my DVD player and it works. The problem I'm having is that my computer doesn't work connected to the TV. But I tried the same connection with the DVD player and it works but when I connect the computer to the TV using the same connection, it doesn't work.

What kind of TV/What resolution are you trying to run?

By kind of TV, I mean, LCD, Rear Projection, Plasma, Front Projection, CRT.
