What's the XBR lineup and how does it work? I've seen one in person (a few years old) and it looked awesmoe. We're looking at getting a used one for our new apartment.

Thanks,

Rubens

Don't know what the letters mean but their XBR series of televisions are outstanding, some of the best T.V.'s you can buy.

currently yes, but in 1997 what was XBR technology?

overpriced.

still is.

theres always a price to pay for the best.

Plenty better...and cheaper. Many early XBRs had convergence problems. I still think it's overpriced. I'd take a Panasonic Tau or a Toshiba CRT over a Sony.

Now Sony's RPTV HDTV is a decent set.

Not used but if I was going to get a tube TV it might be something like:

this Toshiba

Or...actually...since I don't like 4:3 TVs

This Samsung 16:9

While there are certainly good CRT's for cheaper (Tau), the Wega series is pretty much the de facto standard in CRT TV's.

I paid over $2000 for my 34" XBR Widescreen HDTV, and I'm very pleased with it. If you can get a 53" for that price, I'd say it's a sure buy... (considering it's not being sold out of the back of a truck ;) )

That's the one :) My wife and I bought it as a wedding present to ourselves. I have no HDTV tuner though, so for now I mainly watch dvd's.
I do plan on building a new computer out of old parts I have laying around, and with the help of a PCI HDTV tuner making a new multimedia system for my entertainment center.
