Can anyone please recommend a good Home Theater system for around 300 dollars? Reciver plus speakers, thank you.

^ yes, most people agree Onkyo makes the best HT-in-a-box systems for a tight budget.

If you listen to much music though, consider spending at least $400 and preferably $500 on a better Onkyo model. The cheaper systems handle movies fine but the tiny satellites just can't do a great job on music.

Is this for computer usage or like a real HT situation with sources like a DVD player etc.

I'm concerned that with a budget HTIB you're not going to get surround sound from a computer source if that's what you have planned.

What are your plans for this?

If this is a computer based sound system you might be better off sticking with a high end computer set.

This is not for the computer, but for DVD player, gaming consoles, etc.
