Home Theater Subwoofer sounds distorted

I have a POLK PSW10 (I believe that's the right model...) and it now sounds distorted (it kind of makes a warbly sound when it hits). I don't believe the speaker is blown because I took a different sub out of a seprate enclosure and put it this polk box and it had the same distortion. It isn't the receiver either, I tried a known good sub on the receiver and I also hooked the polk up to a 2nd receiver I have. So it's definitely something going on with the unit itself. I'm not sure if it's the amp, the input, or something else? Just wondering if you guys have any ideas?

I have it hooked up using RCAs. Could I hook an audio source to the Speaker Level Input to test to see if its the RCA input causing the issue? Or is that for something else?

If you are connecting it to the LFE output of your receiver, it might be a blown/damaged amp. I would contact Polk and explain your situation. They should help troubleshoot, and if it is indeed the amp they should also send you a replacement with instructions how to swap it out with the old one.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I've heard good things about Polk's customer service.

Is it warranteed?

Sounds like either a part of the circuit is damaged, or something is physically loose... Hard to tell without knowing what it sounds like.
