My neighbor has a reciever that I can get for cheap that does Pro-Logic 2, and that is what I want for Gamecube surround sound.
I took a look at the back and I saw that it has several inputs on it, but it only has audio inputs, no video.
So my question is, if I keep the Gamecube hooked up to the tv and run a/v cables from the moniter out on the tv to the reciever
will it still decode the audio? Would the same apply if I were watching tv and I ran the moniter out to the reciever?
Am I looking at this all wrong?
Please help!

I think I figured it out, there are two a/v inputs on the back.
I have the Gamecube hooked up to my tv through component cables right now, and if I hook the audio through the reciever
in one of the inputs I should be set.
My next question is about moniter out on the back of the tv.
Is there a signal always being sent from the tv?
Or is it just when there are cables plugged in?
I would like to be able to use my tv without turning the reciever on each time.

DUDE, your friend better not have a Bose!

If you run RCAs from your Gamecube, to your TV, to your receiver, everything should be fine. It would be better to go to the Reciever directly, since we/I can not gaurentee how the switching in the TV works. Just do what you outlined and if it doesn't work, get a y-splitter.

I'm not sure if the TV will turn the component signals into something the RCA cables can handle. You might want to consider getting a receiver which is capable of switching comonent video imputs. You might have to experiment to get your answer.

OK, you have HDTV (I'm guessing from the component imputs). Sony Wega? What TV do you have, we can proably better help you.

It's a Sony something, but the audio is hooked up via RCA's, so that is why I though I could just plug the Cube into
the a/v inputs on the reciever and leave the component video hooked to the tv. Then I would just have to switch
the reciever to aux and the tv to the right input. The tv would not be putting out sound, but that seems like the easiest way for me to do it.
Does this make sense?

Err, the tv would not be putting out sound but the reciever would be putting sound out to the speakers connected to it.

OK, find out what tv you have, RIGHT NOW!

Check the TVs menu screen for audio in/out options. Some TVs can act as primitive switchboxes.
