I kinda like the Yamahas just because I like the old black clunky look with the amber lighting. Yep, none of that silver new age futurristic stuff for me.

Which manufacturer do you like?

I have a Sony and a Pioneer. I certainly would never buy a receiver based on looks...

Yamahas sound too harsh IMO, and they are too "busy" looking.

I like Harman Kardon.

I prefer Denon for overall quality, and Sony just because my TV and DVD player are made by them and I like remotes that work with everything.

I own an H/K now, but I was looking at Denon...Integra...and this is just within the range of affordability. The high end stuff is just gorgeous...like the new Aragons.

So much fun...I wasted so much time on it 🙂

I love my JVC receiver. It has just about everything. Optical digital inputs, USB inputs (my PC sees it as USB speakers), CD-R, VCR-2, DVD and DVD-multi....

And it didn't put me in the poor house.

I have a yamaha too. We've been using them for 15 years and they've served us well. I am still using my power amp from the 80's to power my sub...
