I'm looking for a device that I can plug in 1 component input and switch between 2 component outputs. Anything like that exist?

Projector & TV. Source unit is Xbox. Xbox to switchbox, then switchbox to (1) TV and (2) VGA converter box (X2VGA2). From the VGA box to the projector.

Ok, got it.

Hmm...can't think of anything off the top of my head. I know of quite a few boxes and receivers that do the reverse....

I have a Component Matrix 4-2 switch box. Meaning it takes 4 inputs (including digital audio) and can output to two different devices.

So I can watch TV and Xbox, or HTPC and TV, or Xbox and HTPC, etc etc 🙂

Get a normal switch and connect it backwards.

Will that really work?

I have a basic passive RadioShack Stereo A/V switch that I use as a component video switcher for my DVD player, PS2 and GameCube. It works great with no loss in picture quality.

Get something non-powered to be safe. I think it should work in theory. Get it from somewhere with an easy return policy to be safe. 🙂

the majority of receivers that were made in the last couple years will have component video switching. hell, some will even convert to component from any source, even s video or rca. it just makes it easier to only run 1 component video cable to your tv and not have to run another for s or rca so you can just switch components on the fly. i have a denon avr3806 and it does it quite well.

WHy use a switch? Just get a splitter. THen just don't turn on the one you don't want to use. No need to actually switch the signal back and forth.
