I would like to build a 2nd system strictly dedicated to sound editing and production. I will be using mics and instruments and would like to mix and edit to make my own music.

1.) What are some good sites or forums you all know of to do some research on?

2.) What can you tell me about building this system? Whats needed? Creative Soundblaster???


 
Actually, I think he's refering to an entry-level Home Recording Studio/Digital Audio Workstation PC. What flavor of hardware and software is recomended for maximum performance? Even information on system configuration tuning would be great.

how about installing windows on a new partition on your computer and install some kind of daw software cubase sx is what I use. This would be the cheapest route and the money saved could be spent on a good soundcard ($700-$1000 sound card) I suggest a firewire solution at this point in the game. Read here to tweak the os
