Home storage solution

I've been trying to come up with an idea for a home storage solution. I have a huge amount of music and movies that has gotten larger than my Desktop can handle. I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement this but here is my plan so far. I have a 24" iMac that my family uses for music. All the ipods sync to it and our apple TV is synced to it. I want to setup a Raid 5 array that will be fast enough that I can just point the iTunes Library to it and work as if the Files were on an internal Hard drive. Right now my options are A) A Firewire 800 external Drive array. B) a NAS Array or C) Server Computer with a set of drive (would most likely run a form of Linux on it). My home network consists of a Cable modem -> Netgear wireless router -> Netgear gigabit switch. If I was to do one of the network options they would be connected directly to the gigabit switch. Will any of these options work, and if so which would be the best route to take?

Thanks in Advance,
Justin
