Hey everyone, I have the Sansui A-505 IntegratedAmp (part of a complete component set ie...cd player, cassette, turntable, radio etc) paired to 2 sansui s750 speakers 28.5 inches tall and 14 inches wide each. Only the amp and speakers are connected as the other components are sorta "outdated".

Amp:

Speakers:

so what happens is i connect/wire the speakers (i believe theyre called "powered" as they have no plug or internal amps) to the amp and connect my xbox/phone/laptop or w.e is playing the sound to an adapter which then plugs into the amp's tuner rca ports.

My problem is Im sure Ive fried the amp (dont know how bad) but when i was younger one side produced much weaker sound so I intertwined the left and right speakers and ran them both through one side (stupid i know). It worked for a good while but fried after (makes continuous buzzing sound when amp is on and speakers wired in).

So Im looking to get a new amp to replace it. I want it just as powerful/capable if not more but it wont have to be an integrated amp replacement (ie. it wont be used on the component set....just used to play music/watch movies using a 3.5mm to rca converter)

Specs of fried amp: Voltage-120/220/240 Volts| 50/60Hz| Power: 120 Watts|Speaker impedance 8-16ohms

Spec of 1 speaker: Max Input Power: 85 Watts| Impedance 8 ohms (they are pretty powerful believe me the room will shake when turned up half)

ill try to source pictures of amps and speakers for better understanding. (speakers are bass reflex standing at 28.5 inches by 14 inches)

I didnt mention repairof the amp as I live in Jamaica and labor/parts/experts in this area is limited and probably expensive.

As an example of what I've been considering with my limited sound knowledge : http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Pyle-PC..._Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item51ba0b51b4

im trying to find the best replacement amp for the best price...it will be mainly used in one room (mainly for music but also gaming and movies) but i like my music loud and bass kicking, and the old amp definitely delivered excptionally imo. any real help would be greatly appreciated!

The key thing to know is where you are buying and what is available.....and of course your budget.

That amp you have is probably about 35W per channel.

You figured it right, they are passive speakers :D your amp was powering them. Although the speakers might be good, they is no sense putting serious $$ into them. Good news is, they are 8 ohm speaker so basically any amp will work on them.
One option is to get a new elcheapo amp from amazon, something like this.

The way I personally would go is to look on Craigslist and find someone selling OLD AVR, selling for around $30 - $50, no more. They should have enough steam to power those speakers. You can go into the AVR's menu and tell it that you do not have center or surround or sub and it would send everything to left right

*EDIT*
crap, you do not live in US, just finished reading through your entire post. Well, the amp you linked above is not bad, but that make does not have the best reputation when it comes to the wattage. Audiosource, I linked above (also available on ebay), is a little bit better based on my personal research.

Even ebay sells old cheap AVRs, but I doubt one will be shipped to Jamaica for under $100... No offense, but given the reputation of 876, I doubt any seller would risk it :D

Hmmmmmmm.... First things first. A good Source like a laptop or a music server hooked up to a DAC. A good Amp, Good Speakers, good power supply (for amp) Preferably non switching. and some good oxygen free copper 12/14 gauge speaker wires properly terminated.

Take anyone of those components out and your music is gonna sound like CRAP.

Pyle is CRAP. Period. I'd go with a good T-amp with a TK2050 chip. Like Topping ... But if you wanted the best chip amp? Virtue Audio is selling a One.3 for 400 bucks, but a you can get by with cheaper ones. Just depends on the sound stage you are looking for. A good TK2050 chip can be had for around 100 bucks.

My suggestion would be to at least start out with a good Amp. Can upgrade speakers later... Copper speaker wire is CHEAP. For a power supply one could experiment with batteries or a non switching power supply. Read up on that later.

If you want really good sound Pyle isn't for you. You can always get quality stuff to add now and later get some decent speakers ... and if it's still not good enough, get a decent DAC... With the AMP hooked up to Batteries it's a sound that is rarely hear for a budget of about 500-600 bucks.

I just figure if you gonna spend 100 bucks on ebay. Might as well, get something you can upgrade with instead of starting over.
