I have one of these mounted over the baby's crib:
http://www.amazon.com/Foscam-FI8918W...0991941&sr=8-1
I just set up a static IP on it and port forwarding on my router. I wrote a simple Android client for my Transformer that connects to it, streams motion JPEG, and allows screen swipes to rotate the camera. Now I can spy on the baby when I am at work.
My client software was mostly as a learning project. There are a lot of clients already available, and can manage multiple cameras.
The camera also has a web interface where you can view the camera's output in your browser.

my front camera caught a suspicious guy coming up to my front door a couple of hours ago. i called the roaming security guard and gave him the description of the guy. turns out he was a plumber leaving business cards, which is not allowed according to the security guard.
we had a few break-ins in our neighborhood. one two weeks ago that was too close for comfort. the peace of mind is well worth the small investment of the cameras
i wonder now if i can get a discount on my home insurance...
