If all you want is wireless, 1080p security camera with night vision and free cloud storage...

The Arlo 2 two camera system is priced at $434, on black friday it was down to the low 300's and with an AMEX promotin a 'steal' at $250 plus tax.

Now, I see the Blink xt that says it's a 1080p free cloud storage, bundled with an echo dot, for $80.

Why wouldn't the latter just be the better deal - is there any reason to keep the 3x more expensive Arlo? (second camera is a 'nice to have').

Arlo has small cloud storage for a fee, but if you have multiple cameras and want more recording to the cloud, you gotta pay $$$. Another good option is buying wired option from costco or bestbuy (lorex, swann, etc.), then you'd get reliable camera system with local storage (own your data!!). I've personally tried swann (pretty established video surveillance company), home8 (a small us-based alarm company, but cheap), and wyze (a cheap camera startup, but decent quality). All three brands are good for different functionalities, but it all depends on how many cameras you want and how much you're willing to spend...
