Home networking - sharing Cable Internet connection

Can someone either point me to resources or help me to setup a home network with a cable Internet Connection ?
Basically I have a cable connection already setup for one computer. Now I have a Notebook and I would like to use the Cable Internet connection simultaneously using just one connection. The current system has a network card that is connected to the Cable box. The Notebook as PCMCIA card for networking.

Any help is appreciated ...

Your choices are hardware or software based sharing.

Hardware is more costly--and has higher performance(router).
Software is cheaper-but can be harder to configure.
Regardless which way you go, make sure you have some type of security setup also.

www.dslreports.com has community forums dedicated to the different sharing choices. The people at dslreports can help you narrow your choices, based on your service-requirements-options-etc.
