home networking question

Hi,

I've never setup a network before, and I need a little advice/direction and how to do so.

I have a AsusP5K Deluxe motherboard and would like to hook my girlfriends computer up to the internet through mine, however, not via wireless. So I was curious what steps and what stuff I need to make this happen in the easiest and most effecient manner.

This motherboard has 2 ethernet ports, is that for networking or what?

technically, you can share your connection through the second ethernet port...see here

a better solution would be to buy a router (they can be had for $5-$10) and share the connection the RIGHT way.
