Home Networking question.

Hi all,
If I assign a password to either of the pcs on my network, I can still print to the network printer but I can't "see" the other computer to be able to access files. I have tried the "read-only" setting and the "depends on password setting" but I still don't see the other pc. Ideally I would like full access with a prompt for a password.
What am I doing wrong?

Can you see the other PC if you have type of access to full with no password? Can either PC see the other?(I kind of take it the answer is no to that one)If not, you might have a network cable problem or driver problem with nic card.A miswired cable can cause all kinds of goofy problems.

Make sure both computers are set up in the same 'Workgroup' and on both computers, right click each drive you want to share and set it accordingly.

Is the network printer on one of the computers or a printer server off of a switch or hub.

Good Luck
