home networking problem - need advice

I have one of those neat little blue netgear hubs (4 port - 10/100)

I've used it before to connect my laptop, home pc, and other laptops, and it's been fine (using MS logon and same workgroup name).

Now my office has switched to Novell and my laptop config has changed significantly - enough that even when I change basic settings I can't get it to see (and vice versa) my desktop pc.

My question - what are things I need to get right in order for my computers to see each other on on the network? (Laptop is Win98, Desktop is ME)

Thanks

well I am assuming the laptop you mentioned is one you bring home from work and want to connect to your LAN at home.

Things to look into..
IP subset
Workgroup/Domain name
Netbios info enabled
