Hi all,

I have two Linksys routers. One is just a wired connection, and the other one has a wired & wireless feature. My internet provider is Road Runner.

I need to use the other wireless router because the wireless connection is not strong enough to reach one of the other rooms. My current setup right now has the wired only router connected to the cable modem. The wireless router is connected to one of the ports of the wired router and is located in a farther room.

Currently, I have the wired router setup as 192.168.1.1 and the wireless router as 192.168.2.1. The room that has the wireless router also has a wired computer. With this setup, it is able to access the Internet. The room next to this only has a desktop with a wireless NIC. This computer is also able to access the Internet via the wireless router.

My problem is that I can't seem to access the Internet using a laptop via a wireless connection. I seem to be able to connect to the wireless network, though. It's just I can't connect to anything; not even access the wireless network setup page via the web browser.

Any tips on how to setup my network properly?

Thanks!

Make sure that the Laptop is configured correctly, and that Wireless Basic actually works.

The two main trepidations of Wireless Laptops are that the Wireless Physical Switch that is Off (if there is one)

Many laptops come configure with the OEM utillity loaded as well as Windows Zero Configuration running.

In order to work correctly only one can be On. ( http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html ).

If it is functional then look at the Wireless computer that works and set the laptop Wireless properties to be the same. (SSID Channel Security etc.) The Wireless client will not connect to the Wireless Router (AP) unless all the settings match.

:sun:

P.S. I am not sure if it realted to the problem, but Cooky's hint above is some thing to consider it seems that currently you are doing double Routing and actually have two networks.

Qacer - some people put the wireless router upfront, and have the wired router in the back for security reasons.
It doesn't look like that's what you're doing, so forget the double network - configure everything in the same network, and follow Jack's website. It should be straight forward.
(the key is to inter-connect the two routers using one of the switch ports, instead of router port)
