Howdy,

I'm not as experienced in setting up home networks as other thinsg and am having a tiny problem. I just got the SMC Barricade 4 port router and have it hooked up to my cable modem and printer. Both PCs I have can surf the Internet and both can print.

The problem is that on PC 1 when I go to Network Neighborhood, it only sees itself and 'Entire Network'. When I go to entire network, it shows me the workgroup name I chose. When I open that up, it just shows the PC I'm on.

On PC 2, when I go to NN, it only shows itself and no 'Entire Network'.

Both PCs are running Win98. File and Print Sharing is installed on each PC (not sure if I need it anymore with the router) and both are setup with the same workgroup name under the Identification tab.

I'm sure I'm just missing something pretty easy but I can't find it.

Thanks for any suggestions

When that happened to me, I went back in and cleared all the IP address numbers. Not sure if you will be able to do that because of the cable modem.

While something is probably not right in your setting, you can bypass the problem, by installing NetBEUI, and make it default protocol. (NetBEUI is not depending on the IP scheme.)

Binding the printer and file sharing to NetBEUI Only, will add a security measure for you file, and printer sharing.
