Sometimes the access to my server data is very quick. At times I experience delays up to 10 minutes and possibly more before the data is accessible.
Principally, I'm talking about Visual Foxpro accessing data that resides on my Synology DS214play NAS. That NAS is connected by ethernet to my Asus RT-N66R dual band (2.4ghz and 5 ghz) broadband router.
The data is on a Shared Folder on the NAS, and each of my PCs has that shared folder mapped to a drive letter.
A guy in a Visual Foxpro forum asked me if "the router is the DHCP server." I figured yes, but I just went into the router config (web based) and evidently DHCP is not enabled. I tried to change the setting and it wouldn't change:
Enable the DHCP Server? Yes / No
No is selected (it's a radio button), and clicking Yes does not change it to yes.
I opened the manual for the router and on page 38 it says:
To set up the DHCP server:
Advance Setting / LAN menu / DHCP Server
Following the directions I'm led to make that same change, from No to Yes. I tried this from a different machine, same result. For some reason I can't enable the DHCP Server.
What's up with this? Could this be the reason I get long delays very frequently when I try to access my data?
