Home network setup

Sorry about the noob question but I know near nothing about setting up a "network" of computers and printers. Ok, I would like to have 2 computers and 2 printers connected together so we can access either printer from either computer as well as access the internet from either computer. Since all equipment is located in a small sized room, I want this to be a wired network. The printers are USB connection and computers use ethernet cables. I have Verizon DSL and one of the newer router/modems (I'll provide more details on this oncve I get home). How exactly would I do this?

By the way, my existing setup is one computer and one printer connected directly into that computer.

TIA

If you have a Modem/Router and there is only one Network jack on the unit.

Buy a simple switch plug the Mode/Router output to the Switch and plug the two computers to the switch.

Voila you have a Network and you would be able to use the Internet from both computers.

In order to share, and communicating between the computers you need to configure the sharing on each computer.

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.

Thank you for your reply. I will read those links.

Sorry forgot to mention the 2 computers both use WinXP H.E. w/ SP2.

The above link of Basic XP would cover Home edition, the advance is only for XP pro.
