Ok so I set up a wired network in my house, 3 computers connected to a switch/router/DSL modem. My computer has the Via Gigabit network adapter and the 2 other computers are using some other adapters I dont know of.
Network and internet are working fine and dandy except one strange little problem:
When my network card is set up as 100mbps Full duplex (or when I set it to Auto-negotiate) my internet is very slow, upon doing a bandwidth speed test, my max speed is 480kbps but my internet connection is 3.3mbps.
If I switch my network card to 10mbps full duplex suddenly my bandwidth report is 2.5mbps which makes a lot more sense.
I really have no problem using 10mbps Full duplex, but I would like to use the full speed of my network for when I move files to other computers etc...
Any ideas how to fix this?
Could it be that one of the computers is using an old network card capable of only 10mbps? However this problem occures even when that computer is shutdown.
As for drivers, my network card is fully updated but dont know about the two others.
My router is a Linksys BEFSR41 im using an older firmware because the new one gives my connection trouble when im playing Counterstrike: Source.
Phew, ok GO!
