Home Network Help Please through Router

I have 2 computers running xp pro. I want to access files on target computer A from computer B. They are both on a router (D-Link DI 604). Both can access the Internet. I can ping target A from B.

Here is what I did:

1.. Named each computer, put on a workgroup with the same name: Control Panel > System > Computer Name tab > Change (rename computer/join domain)

2. Made sure File and Printer Sharing was installed (box was checked) in Start > My Network Places > Right Click > Properties > Right Click the active network connection > Properties

3. Made folder available: Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings > Unchecked Use simple file sharing, then My Computer > Folder to Share > Right click > Select Properties > Permissions to Everyone (full control)

4. Turned off Windows software firewall

HOWEVER, when I go to My Netword Places and select View Workgroup Computers, no files come up and I get the message back that "The Workgroup (identified by name) is not available. You might not have permission to use this newtork resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

I can't figure out how to set the permission. Does anyone know? Did I omit something in my steps above?

If it matters, my computer is set up with two accounts - one for me and one for others.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the repsonse. I just build computer B a week or two ago and haven't used it much. Today, it decided to update Windows XP Pro to SR2 and after that occurred I would see the shared drive on targe computer A. Go figure.
