Home Network Help Needed!

I get a message that tells me I do not have access to the directories or something to that affect. I scanned this forum and found a guide that tells how to disable some sort of firewall that Windows automatically puts in place when you turn on Sharing but I cannot find that checkbox anywhere. Is that guide only good for XP SP1?

I'm behind a Linksys router and have both computers assigned to the same workgroup. Both computers are running Windows XP Pro SP2. Any ideas? Could it be related to the Windows firewall that comes with SP2?

As a first step (until you solve the problem) disable any Firewall.

SP2 Firewall can easily be turned Off in the security center.

If you cannot figure it out type Disable Firewall into Windows own help and it will instruct you.

May be this can Help too, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

If you have Zone Alarm installed, that will block your pings if it is set on high in the"Internet Zone Security". Just a thought. Wayne
