Greets.
I'm having some problems getting my laptop to connect across my home network. As it stands, I've got a Linksys hub (I know, I know...) offering connectivity over cable to four total PCs - one of which, the laptop, doesn't seem to want to take it up on the offer.
When I first got this laptop the ethernet connection was fine. Then I took it to school and had a guy set up the wireless to accept my uni's network - ever since then, the ethernet connection hasn't worked, and for the record, the wireless doesn't, either.
I've played with computers through virtually all my short life but networking has always been a bit beyond me. This being said, I'm going to try to give as much info as I can, whatever I feel might be relevant (and whatever is asked for by replies), in as much networking jargon as possible. Three of the four PCs on this network are DHCP enabled and work perfectly to acquire their own IP addresses and the like. The laptop, though, despite being DHCP enabled, does not. I look at the information listing and notice that it displays no IPv4 default gateway, DNS or WINS servers, and has no IPv6 default gateway (But does have an IPv4 gateway). Windows Firewall is OFF (I turned it off for diagnostic purposes, but I'll probably install third party anyway). Running on Windows Vista Home (wtb: Professional), an HP Pavilion dv-5 1125-nr. My primary use for this laptop beyond notetaking at school is gaming (I've got my PC and lappy on the same desk); specifically, running two accounts on EVE Online and Anarchy Online.
The laptop is running on a Geek Squad (Best Buy ftw!) Cat6, the other three are running various Cat5 cables. Just to test, I tried using that Cat6 on my gaming PC; worked like a charm, so it's all on the laptop's end.
Thanks in advance.
