Where to start...

So we decided to create a home network with our two computers and our XBOX 360. Computer 2 and the 360 network fine. Computer 1 (home1) can't connect to the home network. It can ping the other computer fine and get ping'd by the other computer fine.

But when I go into the cmd window and try "net view \\ip address (where ip address is computer 2), computer 2 shows up fine. When we try it the other way around (from computer 2 cmd "net view \\ip address (where ip address is computer 1) we get System error 53.

This is driving us nuts. I'm here to answer any hardware questions that may help.

Yes, both computer are running XP pro w/ System Pack 2.

TIA.

Ok, we found that one problem was the built in Nvidia firewall...

Disabled that and now Computer 2 can now see/access computer 1.

BUT...

Computer 1 can not see/access anything but itself, even though Computer 2 can see it and access it.

Please help fellas?

Pro...

But I finally found a/the fix. After disabling Nvidia's native firewall (was for some reason running that along w/ my router and Windows firewall) AND REBOOTING, that fixed everything. :)

Now if only I didn't have the problem that it seems like everyone is having regarding their xbox360 not seeing their PC...it sees computer 2, but never computer 1, but both see the 360...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Are the computers using static IPs or are they using DHCP?
If DHCP, who's providing it? Your router, or another computer?
