Hey guys. Lets see whos up this late ;]

I've been bored for a while now and need something to keep me busy. A while ago I ran across a site that showed a person making a projector with a small lcd screen. I found one plan online but they use a 14inch TV. I was wondering if any of you guys have tried or know of a site that gives free instructions on how to make a projector using a small screen. It would be fun playing my divx movies on the wall.

thx
=)

The end result probably wouldn't be worth your time or effort. Light diminishes with the square of distance. At a distance far enough to get a decent sized picture you'd need night vision goggles to watch it.

lol is that right. Hmm
I saw those lenses you can buy on ebay for 10 bux , they say to just slap it on any tv or monitor and it will display it on the wall. Think I might give that a shot. maybe it works really well with a true flat crt monitor?

Maybe you still think you're gonna get something for nothing? :)

Seriously, I too have been intruiged enough by the idea that I've come close to wasting $10 on it. Logically, I know I'd be throwing money away, and I'm sure you do, too, but there's still that shred of hope that maybe it CAN be true.

If you do go this route, please post your results. But I'm going to remain skeptical for the time being.

Best of luck to you!

dont do it
your monitor doesn't put out enough light to cover a wall, and it will be upside down, so you either have to flip your monitor or use software to do it (my radeon 8500 can rotate the screen)
NOT WORTH IT!

That's funny...I was just looking at mybigtv in my email earlier this morning. Of course, they claim their plan is far superior to those "other" plans. ;)

The plans, IIRC, say that the tv has to be set upside down.

Thanks a lot :|

I'm never going to get all my projects done now :(

80"+ LCD projection project added to the list (approximate cost: sub $300)

Also on the list:

Dillon press
66 Mustang coupe
MAME cabinet
Several C&R rifles
and several others. sigh

That forum is nice, it doesn't look extremely difficult or costly to do. The people there (eventhough it's a normal .com and not .fr or .whatever) don't speak the best english. I mean I appreciate that they learned it and speak it, but does make it sorta difficult to follow directions sometimes. Reading through all the FAQs now.

AVSForums has a huge thread on DIY projectors too. I compiled some links of my own a while back but never made a single step towards a projector:

Thanks, will take a look at them

I have a 55" projector screen right now actually, got it when we moved my grandmother.

I just wish I could find a thing that said step by step how to make it. I mean I know there are variations, but I want to see all the steps from beginning to end and then learn about the parts. Hopefully one of those sites will have it.
