Noise in my apt. is ok, but in the morning I can hear my roomates moving around b/c the walls are so thin.

What is the best to block out some noise? I don't have cotton balls ATM, by the way. Kleenex MIGHT work but I don't think it's compact enough, etc.

Stick a pencil through your eardrum

or

Try drowning it out with some nice classical music or something, then go buy proper ear plugs instead of inserting weird things in your ears

It's 11PM, and I don't want to drive out to Walmart

I like white noise but nothing to make it. A fan would be great but I don't have one ATM. TV and music I can't sleep with it on.

I say just deal with it for tonight and go get some earplugs tomorrow. I bought a pack at CVS for like $2.50 and it was well worth it.

Are you a smoker? Tear off the filters from a couple of smokes. Dense foam. Thin strip of a shirt or sock rolled tight. Think of something, McGyver.

Goldwave

Tools -> Expression Evaluator
Noise
- White or Brown

Take your pick.
You can use the Effects menu to change the pitch. Turn it into a low-frequency rumble if you want to. A bandpass filter over White Noise, set to 20-150Hz does the trick nicely. :D
Just don't blow out your subwoofer.

Use your receipt from Walmart, then, chief.

This isn't homemade, but my John Deere dealer used to have good cheap disposables.

Can just tune the TV to a station that doesn't work and turn the volume down...

You can also download the Ocean Waves sounds and things like that and loop them on the PC.
