Home made beer

Thinking of having a home made beer setup ... googled it, but was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the stuff or reccomendations on how to go about it?

How good it is depends on how good of a beer brewer you are. Start off simple and get more complex as you go along.

You should talk to the homebrewer dude on these forums..

Check out some good forums on the web as well.

Its a fun hobby, and the rewards of two cases of good tasting beer is great!

Step into my parlor...
I recommend checking out any local brew supply shops first. They are invariably helpful and are always your best bet. If there are no local shops, check out www.brewyourownbrew.com If you have any immediate questions, fire away.

A basic kit to get started will cost about $60 to $70 and will include ingredients for a first batch. There are three main methods for brewing beer, they are in increasing level of complexity, All malt, mini-mash and all grain.

You can definitely brew beer to rival and surpass any commercial brew you can purchase. However, it is a hobby and you won't save any money over purchasing beer at the store.

It's a rewarding hobby and the best part is sharing with your friends.

Hey Magnus how long does it take to get the first batch ready to drink? What are the chances of a noob actually getting a decent tasting first batch?

i want to get into it.but don't want to waste the money if i don't enjoy it heh

About 95% of brewing beer is cleaning. It's extremely important to make sure all of your equipment is clean. I've only used malt extract, but if you can follow directions it's pretty easy to get a good batch your first time out. You're looking at around a month per batch from boiling to drinking.
