Sorry for what is probably a stupid question, but the horizonatal railes on the sides will allow me to safely perform presses and squats, correct? If it does, it certainly looks like a steel and exactly what I'm looking for.

Sorry... I don't always understand what I'm looking at when it comes to this equipment.

Thread seems a little old but my suggestion is to buy freeweights if you have the space. You can do just about everything with freeweights to increase size and strength and there are only a few things that can be done with a Bowflex. There's just not enough weight on the Bowflex to really do much except for toning unless you fork out a lot of money.
