Well, I've been missing home-home for a while now, and I've been missing my family even more. But now that I'm home from being at school for 2.5 months, everything feels all weird. I feel like my family is totally different, I feel like I don't fit in, and everything in my house feels different. Even things like my old room, or taking a shower. I feel like I want to go home, but...I am home...so weird. I hope thing arn't like this for Winter Break...I'm sure tomorrow night will be really cool though, I'll get to help in the kitchen (I LOVE COOKING, but i can't at school) and eat a great dinner with my extended family. Another big dinner on Friday, then I head back to school on Saturday for a dinner Saturday night with some friends. Hope everyone is enjoying their vacation.

4-5 with good behavior. I'm an Econ/Management Sci major. Hoping to get out of school in 4, get a decent job for 2, and get on my knees to try to get an MBA.

When I used to come home from college, my biggest issue was adjusting my language. "F this", "F that" was part of my college vernacular, but it was not acceptable in my parent's house, of course. I also called my college dwelling "home". As in "well, when I go back home on Sunday afternoon". "Home" didn't mean my parent's house and they were bothered by it. I think when you live in one location 9 months out of the year, it becomes "home".

man i know EXACTLY! how you feel. i just came home last firday after 2 months. My room is empty..my chair was gone and the sheets were different. Seems like everybody raided my room when i left. The first night i spent at home it was so weird. it definately made me think about my future..realized i can't live here anymore. it's been a couple days and you get pretty used to it. Now i don't feel like going back to college cause it's gonna feel weird. ;)

My mom gets mad at me when I say "home" too...trying to think up different ways to say it...but there really isn't any other way.

And yeah, I have a month off for winter...gonna be nuts. My birthday is in there though, that's usually fun.

The home is where the rump rests...i think i just need a buncha sleep.

Home is where you keep your stuff. Where is YOUR computer? Probably at college... After a few months the dorm was home. My parents house is no longer "home" to me, just a place I visit.

Get this... The first night home from the dorm freshman year, I had to get up to take a whiz. I couldn't find the bathroom or any lights in the hallway. I ended up getting really turned around and entering the linen closet, my parents room, and the guest bedroom before waking my mom up in my mad fit to find the bathroom. After that night my mom put a night-light in the bathroom. Also, any time I wake up at home, it freaks me out for a second until I realize where I am.

Sigh...

I know what you mean, I am having a weird time with it as well. I just got back this afternoon, and everything was different than how I remember. And not even like major things, just little tiny differences. But it still just feels off. That and I miss the good computer back in my dorm.

I left home when I was 18, and moved away to attend college. I never moved back in. Almost immediately, I realized this equation: home = place where I connect my speakers to my amplifier. That theory has worked for about 12 years now.

hmmmmmmmm...
I remember that my first time going home from college i was doing about 90mph to get back home, but once i got there, i was doing 100mph to get back to school. Two days at home was all i could take. I remember telling my other friends the same thing but none believed me til they got to do their first trip home...

Welcome to real life my friend, you have officially grown up; you are your own person now, not a kid living at home.

Yeah, I guess now it's just a race for independence. Having a place of my own would pretty much rock my socks off. Just gonna take a bunch of time. I left my desktop and my Klipsch at school. As I said, without my lappy, I'd be totally lost. Food's great though...and the sleep here feels much better. Looking forward to more of the sleeping tonight. Now if only there were girls from High School that wanted to hook up...

I came home from VT last saturday to find my leather chair, scanner and random dvds missing from my room. All of which my brother took while I was gone. Can't wait till I get back to campus...dial up sucks...

My observations since returning home this weekend:

1. The 32-inch TV at home here seems really huge now, since I've been watching TV either on a 13" one in my suite or a little 4" square on my computer screen.
2. This computer monitor at home that seemed fairly flat before, looks really "bulging" compared to my flat-screen Sony at school.
3. Dial-up really IS slow.
4. I drive like a grandma now, since I haven't been in a car in months.
5. Things DO change while you're not looking. They repaved the freeway through town, they remodeled and reorganized the local Target store, so I can't find anything anymore, and the local movie theater chain was bought by a bigger company. It's Century now instead of Pacific.
6. I still stay up late, even though everyone else has gone to bed, and I need to get up early tomorrow.

It's good to see old faces though. :)

For two weeks I've been waiting to go home for food. But this morning around 10a.m. I realized how much I wanted to go back to college when my mom started banging on the door and telling me that it was time to get up. At that moment I was like "screw this". Again just now when I tried to post to the forums and it asked me to login I was like "damn this sucks, whish I was at home with my computer". Unfortunately I don't go back till Tuesday and I'm already itching to leave. Now that my stomach is full, I've seen my family and petted my dog I feel that I no longer have any reason to be here. I also hate all the damn questions, my parents wont stop asking "so what have you been doing? Studying hard? Are you still going out with whats her name?". I mean do they really want me to tell them that I'm partying every weekend and spending tons of money on alcohol and gambling. I think not!!!!!! They would freak out. ShadowHunter you said it perfect, I have my own life and I can't wait to get back.

edit: I can tell its late. About half of my post didn't make sense gramatically.
