So after getting denied for a Sears card I decide to just buy the crap I need. Namely, a dryer.

I pay for the dryer, the extended warranty, delivery, and ten bucks to haul away the old broken device.

They email me saying it's backordered and I need to call them. They do this two days after I ordered.

I cancel on them, and go get approved for a Home Depot card.

Then I enjoy free delivery, a giftcard by rebate, and a cheaper warranty.

The savings are used to acquire a better machine for the same price.

Six months no payments or interest too.

1. why on earth would you get an extended warranty on a drier???? There are very very few parts that can go bad, they're simple to fix, and each part probably costs about 1/10th of what you paid for the warranty.

2. tear apart your old drier. Rip the motor out of it... rip the wires out of it... etc. Take to a scrap metal place. Get *paid* for the scrap metal. edit: scrap metal prices are sky high recently... especially copper.

Things that can go wrong: the belt around the drum may break in about 15 years. Heat sensor on the back occasionally goes bad. Heating element (if electric drier). The little wheels that the drum spins on. And possibly, but relatively rarely, the electronic controls.

Oh, and if the model you purchased is available at both Sears and Home Depot, did you know Sears has a 110% pricematching policy? Depending on the mood of the employees at the Sears you were at, you probably would have avoided having to send in for the rebate, since it's most likely through Home Depot (gift card?). So, you could have gotten 10% of the difference between the prices at the two places subtracted from the price, as well as the rebate amount, thus saving you the tax on the amount of the rebate. So, if Sears = $500 and HD = $400 with a $50 gift card, You'd have paid at Sears: $400 - (10% of $100) = $390 minus the gift card value = $340 plus tax.

They we not the exact same model.

Also, the six months no payments or interest is nice.

As for the ESP, it was $89 for five years.

Last drier died within that time frame and fixing it would have cost more than $100.

And, if you don't pay the whole thing off before the end of the 6 months, don't they tack on the interest for all 6 months? Last I knew, Home Depot's interest rate was well over 20%.

I've never seen a dryer die within 5 years unless it was an incredibly cheap brand. My parents have had their Whirlpool for more than 10 years now with no signs of it slowing down.

Seeing he's been here over 3.5 years more than you it may make a bit of diff.

Hell, I've been here longer than both of you and I only have 2500+ posts

Both of you are Big Mouth posters!

You can really tell the ones who frequent the "Off Topic" forum. Anandtech should rate your status as a "combination" of the two......... How long you've been here and how many posts you've made. That would sort it out quick ;)

EDIT: Yep, Pizza is a numbnut trying to crank his post count. 5 posts within' 29 min.

Purdue: Go and contribute then! Was I aiming this toward you? Another Numbnut.
