If you're looking at buying at sears, lowes, or homedepot, check out fatwallet for their 20% off gift cards. There's a couple of programs where you sign up for a trial membership and you purchase multiple $25 gift cards and at the beginning of the next month they credit back $5 per card you buy. Some porgrams allow you to buy 20 cards($500) and some allow 30 cards($750). If you want more than 500 or 750, there are multiple programs out there. You just aren't supposed to sign up for the same one more than once a year. The trial memberships run like $3 for a month. So to do it, you open an account between the 10-15 of the month and purchase you cards you want, they'll arrive in about 7 business days. They will charge you the face value, then in the first week of the next month, they credit back the $5/card. You then call them up and cancel your membership after the credit shows up on your credit card. I've used mainstreetsavings123, and it went pretty smoothly.
