Home Depot beat Amazon at delivery today

I was shopping online for a power washer today and Home Depot and Amazon both had the model I wanted and were similarly priced. The nearest HD to me is a 15-minute drive, which typically isn't worth it to me given that other home improvement stores are closer. Amazon had free prime shipping next day. Home Depot had free same day shipping. I placed my order with Home Depot at 2:50 PM today and received my order shortly after 5:00 PM. I don't think I've ever seen something delivered so fast for free. Might have to consider Home Depot more in the future.

A lot of stores are using gig drivers from various companies. You might get your stuff, but it might have another customer's sushi spilled on it.

Amazon is hit and miss, sometimes it's a few days, sometimes a few months... I did an order the other day and got the email and the estimated time for delivery is some time in September. Alright then. I guess it's being flown on dragons straight from China.

It's what happens when you need five dog teams just to get to your place.

I would cancel right away if it was that long.

But was that something actually sold and shipped by Amazon, or just a third party seller?

I think the longest anything's taken is 2 weeks, and that was a direct from China thing. There's a lot of reasons not to use amazon, but I've been happy with the service provided, and I don't have prime or anything.

I usually try to stick with shipped by Amazon but through my search I sometimes end up landing on something that's not and forget to check.

Weird part is, I actually got it today! But the email said September. So some weird mixup in the ETR I guess.

Maybe those sellers get dinged for missing their shipping windows, so they make them obscenely large to account for shipping delays sending internationally.
